Finding Help in Jordan

While driving from Israel into Petra, I was thinking that I had to find somebody to help me in Jordan, so I decided to go to the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Having stayed there many times, I know a lot of people and thought maybe they would be able to direct me to someone who could help. However, when I arrived at the Crowne Plaza, it was closed for renovation.

So I drove back downtown. I hadn’t eaten so I pulled into another hotel and thought that it would probably have a restaurant, maybe a buffet, and sure enough there was a buffet. A gentleman greeted me and showed me to a seat. As he handed me the menu, he said, “How may I help you?”

I looked up at him and said, “As a matter of fact, you can help me. I need a man who knows the King of Jordan, a man who knows the Minister of Tourism, a man who speaks English, a man who knows camels, and a man who knows the history of frankincense—and I need a man who can help me with the Jordanian national television station.”

He blinked his eyes and stepped back and said, “Well, could I have a minute to make a couple of phone calls?”
I said, “Sure.”

I filled my plate at the buffet, sat down, and started eating. A man walked up to my table and said, “I understand you want to talk to somebody who knows about camels. I work in the Aqaba office, and my boss’s name is Omar. Omar has been a tour operator for 27 years, he speaks 5 languages, and he was an ambassador to the United States. He’s related to the king, and his sister works for the Jordanian national television station.”

Omar is now on our advisory committee

Live in the “Now”

I want to share some quotes with you that have been helpful to me.

“He who has so little knowledge of human nature as to seek happiness by changing anything but his own disposition will waste his life in fruitless effort and multiply the grief which he proposes to remove.” Again, it comes back to knowing who you are and what you don’t want.

“Failure is the productive part of success. It provides a road that does not have to be traveled again.” How many reading this have failed at something? Does failure measure your success? Does failure determine who you are? Does failure determine your success?  Failure determines your amount of knowledge. Knowledge can determine your success.

“Do not allow the criticisms of others to steal your dreams or stop you from moving forward.  Are you going to give up or get up?”

“Our past gives us our identity; the future holds the promise of our salvation and fulfillment. Yet both are an illusion. To be successful, you must live in present time.” This is why the three letter word “now” is absolutely so powerful, and we can all use it.

You must accept and proclaim what it is that you want now, because you live in the now. You don’t live five minutes ago—you will not be alive five minutes from now. Five minutes from now you’ll be in the now.

When you come from that space of knowing, the sky is the limit, the universe is the limit. Just grab it and go. There isn’t one of you reading this who could not be a Crown Diamond in 12 months. If you really knew that and you knew it to where you could feel it, taste it, and breathe it—you would do it!

Romance the Positive

We are all attached to what we don’t want, because it’s a negative. What you romance, you keep. It’s like a flower. All of you have had houseplants. If you water them, they survive; if you don’t water them, they die. Mary doesn't romance houseplants, she romances me.

But what do we find ourselves doing? We romance the negative side of our lives and create more of it. I've watched hundreds of marriages where people romance the negativity in their relationship, and they make it bigger and bigger and bigger. And if you ask them what they don’t want, they can’t tell you. They can tell you what they want, but they don’t know how to get it until they understand what they don’t want.

This is why I said to write it down and become very clear on what you don’t want. You need to write it down and put it up on your mirror in your bathroom and on your refrigerator, wherever you can see it throughout your day. If you've got a job and you work in an office, then put a note about the thing that you don’t want on the wall of the office. Do this until it starts to bug you to the point that you can’t stand looking at it. And after you’re fed up looking at it, then you can start looking at what you do want. Then write it down and put it beside the negative.

You see, in order to create a paradigm shift, you've got to get angry. You've got to be angry at what you don’t want, because it takes this emotion to move you out of the rut.

The Writing Road to Success

Every single person reading this who wants to be successful needs to write a minimum of 30 minutes a day. It’s going to do two things for you. One, it’s going to start you on the road to success. Two, it’s going to create a paradigm shift in you. And three, it will align you with the universe. These are all the things that will take you to success.

I always smile when people ask me what to do for their mother, their aunt, their uncle, their cousin, and they don’t have a pen or a paper in their hand. So what is the real intent? I want you to write this down: the dullest pencil is sharper than the brightest mind. Always write, write. This is extremely important!

Maybe you need to ask yourself, “What do I want and where do I want to go with this business?” That’s after what we started out with what you don’t want, because it’s more important to know what you don’t want than it is to know what you do want. Knowing what you don’t want is vital. Once you know that, then you can start lining up on what you do want.

Find a Way—Make It Happen!

I talked to my father for two years about my desire to move to Canada. Finally, when I was 17, I just said, “Dad, I’m sorry; I can’t stay here. I’m not going to live like this.” I loaded my two horses in my horse trailer and went to Canada.

At first I was rejected because I was underage. However, I got to the border and they asked me where I was going. I said, “I’m going to Canada; I’m going to homestead.”

They asked, “How old are you? Where’s your passport? Where’s your birth certificate? Where’s all this information?”

I replied, “Nobody told me I needed to bring it.” So they let me go into Canada, but not as an immigrant; I went through as a visitor and went to the Caribou District. It was great. It was beautiful. And I got a job.

Then I got a notice that I had to either go back to the States or I could immigrate. I went to the immigration office, as a 17 year old, and asked, “Well, how do I immigrate?”

I was told, “You can’t; you’re underage. You’ve got to have a family member sponsor you.”

What Might Have Been

We lived in the most majestic place in Idaho—among the mountains. Where we lived, we were right at the foot of Twin Peaks, which was the second highest mountain in the state. We were 9 miles from it. Our hunting territory went from our home all the way to the Sawtooths in western Idaho, and it was just huge. I had ridden almost every mile of that country on a horse. It didn’t matter whether it was Rocky Mountain big-horn sheep that we hunted, or cougar, or bear, or elk, or big mule deer–it was all in our territory. We had such a phenomenal opportunity!

I had said, “Dad, if you will do this, I’ll take a full-time job from school, and I’ll make the payments on the loan; but they won’t make the loan to me at age 15.”

But he said, “No, I am not going to go into debt.”

Four Tips For Success

Folks, I’m excited to talk again about helping you drive success to your Young Living distributorship. Being a part of this organization allows you to have abundance in so many ways. But to achieve abundance you must put into place certain practical elements that will allow you to achieve the dreams you have in life. With that, here are four simple tips that you can implement in your business:

  • Tip #1—Put a framework into place

Look at your downline and start setting up appointments to teach them how to set up Young Living as a business. Now some may say to you that they’re not really interested in building it a business, and that’s okay. Share with them that you want to help them to eventually establish it as a business, so for some reason down the road if it should happen to grow, everything they need is already in place. And with a business framework in place, then there’s more discipline and commitment to it and it will make it easier for them to share the Young Living opportunity and products with others.

  • Tip #2—Don’t provide false expectations

Don’t take your people into the pitfalls that happen every day in network marketing by leading them to believe that they’re going to make truckloads of money, that there’s no work involved, just sign up here and get on autoship and it’s all done for you. That is false! Autoship is a tool to success, but it isn't the answer. If you don’t treat your business as a business, you’re setting yourself up for failure. You've worked hard to bring them in, why lose them with setting unrealistic expectations?

What Is Your Source?

The bottom line is, do you want to be successful or not? How many of you want to be successful at what you love? So then write it down. There’s no greater joy than being successful at what you love to do.

How many of you hate paying your bills? Come on, be honest. Ask yourself, why do I hate paying my bills? Is it because there’s generally not enough money to go around or none left over after you do pay them?

Write down why it is that you don’t like paying your bills. Is it because there’s not enough money left over for other things after the bills are paid, true or false? Okay, so you resent paying your bills because it diminishes what’s in your bank account.

Young Living partnered with Yoga Journal for their conference held in San Francisco last week with great results.
By aligning ourselves with Yoga Journal, a highly respected and prestigious brand in the health and fitness industry, we are able to bring awareness of Young Living to thousands of people across the country.
Many of the conference attendees are already in tune with their bodies and understand how important it is to only use products that are natural and pure and it is becoming more and more popular to use aromatherapy during a yoga routine.
