Patchouli

Patchouly
Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin), sometimes called "the scent of the '60s," has a musky, earthy, exotic aroma with sensual properties. In Eastern cultures it is commonly used around the house to provide general support for health and to help release negative emotions so that problems can be kept in proportion.

It is very beneficial for the skin, helping to reduce a wrinkled or chapped appearance. Patchouli is a general tonic that helps with the digestive system and occasional queasiness.

Patchouli has an approximate ORAC of 494,271 (TE/L). TE/L is expressed as micromole Trolox equivalent per liter.

How to use: For dietary, aromatic, or topical use. When using as a supplement, dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid such as goat's or rice milk.

Palo Santo

Palo Santo
Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens), also known as "Holy Wood," is an essential oil high in limonene (60-65%), about the same amount found in Young Living's lemon essential oil.

Palo Santo has been used for years in folk medicines and in liniments and has properties similar to frankincense. Palo Santo can also be worn as a perfume to release negative energy.

How to use: For topical use, apply 1-2 drops on affected area. For aromatic use, inhale directly as needed or diffuse/humidify for 10-15 minutes daily.

What You Must Know!

I created this presentation to give you in?depth knowledge about essential oil production, so you realize that it’s not just about picking up the phone, calling a mail?order catalog, ordering an oil, and believing that whatever it says on the label is correct—because we know for an absolute fact that it often isn't!

Adulteration in the essential oil, aromatherapy industry is probably the biggest and largest adulteration in the world in any industry. And why do I say that? Because there is no regulation for it at this time. One of the reasons that the AIRASE foundation was created is to establish certification and regulation that can be accepted by the government. Three years ago I was told that if someone didn't do this who had authority and knowledge of essential oils, the government would wind up putting sanctions and regulations on them.

I was also told by these people who were from a regulatory organization, “Dr. Young, you’re the foremost authority in the world, and everyone recognizes you as such. If anyone creates a certification, it should be created by your standards. And if it’s not, we will be forced to do it.”

If you call them and ask them if they said that, absolutely they would say, “No, we know nothing about that conversation.” Of course not. But it illustrates the seriousness of the problem.

DIY: Natural Sunscreen with Essential Oils

As part of the Young Living family, we do not need to worry about triggering unwanted illnesses from overexposure to the sun or controversial ingredients. Instead, we have 100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils and all-natural ingredients as solutions. These give us the ability to create a custom “formula” that we can individualize for our skin.
Following are suggested ratios for customizing a do-it-yourself sunscreen with Young Living essential oils. Remember that the ingredient ratios will depend on your skin. As you tweak your formula, always test it on an area to check for any reaction.
  1. Begin by using ½ cup of Young Living’s V-6™ Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex.
  2. Add a combination of myrrh (4–5 drops), carrot seed (4–5 drops), and lavender (20 drops) essential oils.
  3. Blend well and store in a dark-colored bottle.
  4. To use: Liberally apply sunscreen over exposed areas.
  5. Remember to reapply every couple of hours throughout the day, especially when participating in water activities.

Chew on this…

So how does chewing gum improve oral health? As we eat, acids are created in the mouth as food is broken down. Over time these acids have the potential to break down tooth enamel, which can lead to additional oral issues. According to the American Dental Association (ADA), chewing gum triggers the production of saliva that washes away or dilutes these acids. Clinical studies show that after a minimum of 20 minutes of chewing, optimal oral benefits are reached.

Slique GumSlique™ Gum combines pure, natural frankincense chewing resin, peppermint and spearmint essential oils, and xylitol into a one-of-a-kind chewing experience. The gum base is free of synthetic material and is cold pressed to preserve the benefits that ancient caravan travelers enjoyed. Personally, I like to spice my gum up a little by adding 1–2 drops of Slique Essence prior to chewing. This adds additional flavor and a hint of sweetness. It also adds additional Slique benefits. It should be noted, however, that adding any type of citrus oil to the gum modifies the gum consistency and may alter the chewing experience.
