The Healthy Brain

Daniel G. Amen M.D., founder of the Amen Clinics, specializes in assessment and treatment of brain diseases and disorders. For many years, Dr. Amen has recommended fish oil to patients as a source of omega 3. UCLA scientists have confirmed that fish oil is indeed a deterrent against Alzheimer’s.
Early warning signs
An interesting note: little or no ability to smell lemon, strawberries, pineapple, and natural gas are indicators of possible early stage Alzheimer's.
How to support a healthy brain?
Dr. Amen offers a list of factors that support the health of the brain. (The same things support health in every other way - brain and otherwise.)
1. maintain proper weight - obesity increases risk 25%
2. maintain good cardio-vascular health
3. avoid or minimize exposure to hair and nail chemicals
4. no more than 3 glasses of wine or other equivalent amount of alcohol a week
5. limit caffeine from all sources
6. drink decaf green tea, eat lots of anti-oxidant foods
7. 1 to 2 grams omega 3 per day
8. life long learning
Other contributing factors are:
1. brain injury, even things like playing soccer and hitting the ball with one's head
2. diabetes
3. smoking
4. untreated depression and ADD
5. "normal" cancer treatment
6. sleep apnea doubles the risk!
The more we learn about the elements of good health the clearer it becomes that prevention is
worth a pound of cure - and we are always choosing!
Based on Dr. Amen’s findings, clearly Young Living has many products that will assist in high quality of life, but one that specifically addresses Dr. Amen’s recommendation for fish oil/omega 3 is:
Omega Blue SoftGels (90 softgels - code 3190)
The pure Fish Oil content is sardine, anchovy and mackerel. The supplement is enhanced with essential oils of Blue chamomile, myrrh, lemongrass, and clove to support the body.
